“Blood is red and red
is dangerous” is a common adage among the medical profession...
as blood transfusions can have many serious potential repercussions
if the whole process of selecting donors, collecting blood,
making blood components, storing and distributing is not meticulously
done. This in fact is the function of a blood bank... be it
a central blood bank serving an entire Nation or a standalone
blood bank of a large hospital. Affno Blood Bank Management
has been designed to be implemented at both National level
and at individual hospital level. The system addresses the
confidentiality concerns of donors while at the same time
providing all relevant information at the fingertips of the
requisite users. The system provides easy yet comprehensive
data capture at the bleeding centres which could range from
hospitals to mobile units and eliminates completely the need
for manual records. Flexible user defined statistics and reporting
features are provided; an integrated and automated label production
facility is provided; reserving and releasing of blood and
blood components is fully automated where numerous hospitals
can be registered with the central blood bank and requests
for blood are queued in order of receipt of request as well
as weighted according to the urgency and priority of the case.
