Affno,
Sri Lanka’s leading software engineering Company with a suite
of Knowledge Management software products were recognised in an
unprecedented manner by being decorated with the overall Gold in
addition to two category Golds plus a special award from CIMA at
the National Best Quality Software Awards ceremony held last week.
The gala dinner function is the premier annual event that recognises
excellence in the IT Industry. A large distinguished gathering consisting
of the crème de la crème of the IT Industry graced
the occasion. The Guest of Honour was Cliff Lineker, BCS –
UK Head of Professional Products.
Affno’s groundbreaking XMAN product won the overall Gold in
addition to the Gold in the General Applications category and the
special CIMA Award for the best Financial Application. Affno’s
e-Government solution for the Attorney General’s Department
of the Government of Sri Lanka won the Gold in the prestigious E-Government
category. Affno carried away three of the five Golds given to the
Industry that night and became the most awarded software company
in the history of the National Best Quality Software Awards. Over
the years, Affno has won 11 metals including seven Golds at this
prestigious event.
Suren Kannangara Affno’s CEO, commenting on the awards won
by his company said, ‘I am proud to lead such a talented and
dedicated team. These awards are the result of many person-years
of investment and we are all very proud of this glorious endorsement
by the Industry. These awards will also help us in our international
marketing. We are in the process of stepping up our foray overseas

Dr. Gihan Wickramanayake – Chairman, BCS Sri Lanka Section
and member of the Senior Faculty of the University of Colombo commented
that he had been involved in this awards scheme since its inception
in 1998. He was happy to note the key role these awards have played
in gaining well-deserved recognition both in Sri Lanka and internationally
for the best Sri Lankan software products.
Suresh Hettiarachchi, Chairman NBQSA 2007 said that these awards
while providing market opportunities also set rigorous standards
of excellence for Software Products from Sri Lanka. “This
annual event hailed as a model, is increasingly drawing interest
from software product development companies in the region as well”,
he added.
